Rob, Rambling RSS

My name is Rob. I live in London, and tend to spend far too much time either online or in places which serve alcohol. Either way I entertain myself. I'm pretty self-critical, very open, and prone to strong opinions. I post just about everything that comes to mind, good or bad.

Yesterday, we watched the entire fifth series of Peep Show in one go. It had been a few months since we watched the first four and I had forgotten how incredibly hilarious that show is.

Find a way to watch it and do so.

Oh dear God yes. Peep Show has been the best thing on British TV for the last few years, even if the last series was a touch OTT for me. It seemed like the characters (Jez especially) had become shadows of their former selves, and became involved with increasingly bizarre scenarios.

There seemed to be a lack of comeuppance to some extent, of just desserts. Jez was willingly destructive towards Mark’s life and his own, yet Mark did very little to combat this. In earlier series, there were occasions when Mark snapped and showed his resentment towards Jez’s actions, but in the most recent series there was an element of resignation, save for the episode when he controlled Jez’s money for a little while.

Having said that, the recent series was still funnier than anything else in the last few months, and is definitely worth watching.

I need to watch Clerks again

  • Mom: Excuse me, do you sell videos?
  • Randal Graves: Yeah, what're you looking for?
  • Kid: Happy Scrappy Hero Pup.
  • Randal Graves: Okay, hang on, I'm on the phone with the distribution house now, lemme make sure we got it. What was it called again?
  • Mom: Happy Scrappy Hero Pup.
  • Kid: Happy Scrappy!
  • Mom: She loves it.
  • Randal Graves: Obviously. Yeah, hello, this is RST Video, customer number 4352, I need to place an order. Okay, I need one each of the following tapes - "Whispers in the Wind", "To Each His Own", "Put It Where It Doesn't Belong", "My Pipes Need Cleaning", "All Tit-Fucking Volume 8", "I Need Your Cock", "Ass-Worshipping Rim-Jobbers", "My Cunt Needs Shafts", "Cum Clean", "Cum-Gargling Naked Sluts", "Cum Buns III", "Cumming in Socks", "Cum On Eileen", "Huge Black Cocks and Pearly White Cum", "Girls Who Crave Cock", "Girls Who Crave Cunt", "Men Alone II: the KY Connection", "Pink Pussy Lips", and, uh, oh yeah, "All Holes Filled with Hard Cock". Uh-huh... yeah... Oh, wait, and, what was that called again?

Awesome…are those the White Cliffs of Dover?

Afraid not. Those are the cliffs on the south-west side of the Isle of Wight, between The Needles and St. Catherine’s Point. They were very pretty, but the scenery was the last thing on my mind at this point…

With a friend at your side no road seems too long

A Japanese proverb, according to the birthday card I just bought for a friend of mine.

She’s the ex-girlfriend with the eating issues, which I think I mentioned here a while ago. I find it quite difficult to be as supportive as I should be of her, as she lives miles away, and it’s been a year since we finished.

I called the other day for a good chat, but you could still tell that things were a touch awkward. It’s her birthday this week, and I intend to write her a big long letter inside the card about everything between us.

On our way back into London yesterday, we drove past these cars, parked up next to one of the major routes into the city. This house always has some lavish, nice cars parked outside, so I was keeping a lookout.

I’d not seen the number plates like this before. It’s a bit unclear, but the one on the left reads “2 BE” and on the right it is “NOT 2B”.

I don’t know whether this is amazing or pretentious. I’d go with amazing.

Our boat was pretty much the same as this one, size-wise. Not small, and apparently about 38 feet in length.
