Rammstein - Pussy
Everyone’s favourite German metallers Rammstein are back with a new album pretty soon, and this is the first single off it (unfortunately I’ve only got the radio edit). I have to say that I’m really not a fan of Rammstein when they sing in English; the lyrics just lack the power and bluntness that they have in German.
Admittedly, I speak German, so am a bit of an advantage when it comes to listening to their usual material, but the wordplay and so forth is brilliant in German. In English, something’s lacking and it becomes very simplistic.
The riff/melody is pretty solid though, which bodes well for the rest of the album. I always find Rammstein’s music to be amongst the most danceable in the metal genre, because they’re not afraid to put a club-esque beat behind the huge pounding guitars, and they also use little trancey keyboard melodies from time to time.
I’ve got a ticket to go see them in the new year whilst they’re touring, and I’m looking forward to it so much. Rammstein’s live shows are famed for being utterly intense, and they’re all a bunch of pyromaniacs to boot. Should be a good one.
The video for this track is online, but I can’t stress enough just how NSFW it is, particularly in the last 90 seconds or so. Again, a little blunt, but it’s a half-decent video. It’s not a patch on Sonne though!
