“Sherman tank” rhymes with “wank”

I just learned that my last name, Sherman, is Cockney rhyming slang for masturbation.

You know, it could be worse, especially for my dad. Our last name could be Bater.

On a similar theme, a wank is also known as a “How’s your father”. No idea where that one comes from.

I love cockney rhyming slang, especially how it constantly updates to pop culture. In the last five years, for example, beers have become known as Britneys. You go down the pub for a couple of Britneys now.
