Leftfield - Phat Planet

I had Leftfield on today while going to/from work on the train. It’s the first time in a while that I’ve really sat down and had a good listen to them, and I’d forgotten how good the music is.

Their albums are a bit like those by Underworld, in that they range from the mellow, hypnotic, chillout end of electronic music through to the more pounding club sounds that make up most of the singles. Leftfield’s slower tracks have a massive Arabic influence, and really do lull you into a relaxed state before the beats of the next song kick in and waken you from your slumber.

This particular song is from the famous Guinness advert with the surfers, waves and horses from a few years back. You know, in the time when Guinness adverts were actually good, and a bit of an event.

Other tracks worth checking out include Open Up and Afrika Shox, which has a pretty cool video to boot.

About

My name is Rob. I live in London, and tend to spend far too much time either online or in places which serve alcohol. Either way I entertain myself. I'm pretty self-critical, very open, and prone to strong opinions.
