On my gchat list, I have to put people’s tumblr usernames in brackets after their real life names, because I am utterly useless at remembering who is who. I’m crap with names at the best of times, and on Tumblr I’ve spent a year getting to know people solely through their usernames.
I can pretty much match photos to usernames now, but throwing actual names into the mix as well is way beyond my capabilities. It helps that most people use the same avatar for gchat as tumblr. Except me, because I’m awkward.
In real life, I’m equally bad at remembering people’s names, usually because I meet new people whilst under the influence of my good friend Mr Alcohol. I wake up the next morning and can remember faces, but I’ll be damned if I know what the hell their names are. Maybe I should start meeting people while sober.
