kapi asked: When are we having the next meetup?
Indeed, when is the next London Tumblr Meet-Up going to be, people? I’m free and easy as to time and place, although central is probably the best bet, I figure?
Maybe a Friday evening, so that no-one has to worry about sore heads the next morning? Other than the first weekend of February (in Venice with the girlfriend), I’m usually around.
London Tumblrs, drop me a line if you want to come along; they’re really good fun, and it’s a good way to meet your fellow Tumblrs.

It’s that time again, London people.
Join us this Saturday for some drinks @ The Volunteer on Baker Street at 7PM. Nearest tube is Baker Street.
Last time it was good to see some new faces along with the regulars. Let’s hope that we hit double digits this time! (Please do come, we are actually quite lovely in person. We also have stickers this time!)
As usual, please reblog and spread the word. Hope to see you there!!

Kick-ass, I love these things. Need to maintain the 100% record.
As kapi says, do come along if you’re a bit unsure. They are genuinely good fun, and I’m spectacular in person. The others that I’ve met are pretty good too…!

I’ve yet to really write anything too much about my holiday, courtesy of a busy first week back, but I want to start with a few Tumblr-related shoutouts.
I met with Martha and her great (anonymous) boyfriend for a couple of drinks and dinner, which was simply fantastic. She’s a really great girl, so friendly and a lot of fun. The girlfriend and I had a really good time that evening, so thankyou again.
Thanks also due to everyone that gave me recommendations for bars, restaurants, hotels, areas, events, sights, the subway and everything else in New York. I really enjoyed finding little locals’ bars and out of the way places that aren’t in the guide books; it felt like a more authentic experience of New York that way. In no particular order, thanks to Amanda, Peter, Sarah, Lauren, Kapi, topherchris and probably other people that I’ve forgotten.
In DC, we had a mini-Tumblr meet-up, with the girlfriend the only one present without a Tumblr (more fool her). We met in a cool little beer bar in Chinatown with loads of different beers and a solid happy hour. Great choice by Vicky, who also deserves a big thanks for organising it too. It was fantastic to meet her and Kia at last, and also to meet Taylor for the first time. Cheers guys!
Unfortunately, Jackie couldn’t make it that night, but I randomly bumped into her the next morning in a coffee shop. It was in New York that I thought I might come across another Tumblr whilst walking around, but it eventually happened in downtown DC, of all places. It was a short but sweet ‘hello’, but always cool to meet new people!
Thanks to everyone for helping to make it a great trip, and if anyone ever needs London-related recommendations or is in town, be sure to give me a shout.
I found the tumblr stickers.

Right, time for another meet-up. I had a look for mine the other day, and I think I have three of the red nametags (one already filled out with my name on it, so fairly useless for anyone else), and approximately five of the tumblr cut-out logo stickers. I’ll add them to the stash for the next London meet-up!

Hey everybody, remember when Rob was all, there’s only one Congo, Natasha, duh. And I was like, no, I’m pretty sure there’s two. DRC and RC. amirite. But he contested this.
But, I was right! Suck it Rob.

I humbly accept my internet beatdown.
Also, I can’t believe that between us we missed out Mali and Tunisia. I think that’s the only two we didn’t get. And Google Maps has Western Sahara has a country, so I’m claiming it!
Now, how’s your knowledge of central Asia…?

Ha, that’s more like it! Glass in hand and beer going down the hatch. A more typical pose for me, it has to be said.
Thanks for the photo kapi!

Well, the numbers more than doubled from the last meet-up, which bodes well for the future! New people, it was great to meet you all; Hannah and Kapi: good to see you again.
Not quite sure when kapi snapped the photo of me, but I seem to have the widest, most open collar that the world has ever seen. Must’ve been a very rare moment when I didn’t have a drink in my hand…
Glad we had an international element too, including a guest visitor on a flying visit to London. Anyone else that’s over here for a holiday, let us know and we’ll organise around you, because we’re that sad.
Here’s to the next one, always bigger and better. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

At the Tumblr meetup, natface won the Fanciest Beer contest hands down.
Also, the longest walk home at the end of the night contest. Jeez, it was miles away from the Tube station. But I had to show that we English truly are gentlemen and would never let a lady walk home by herself late at night.
London bods, don’t forget that tomorrow night is the Tumblr meet-up at the Crown Tavern in Clerkenwell, kicking off around 7:30.
See you there!
