Sitting in the dentist’s chair earlier, I noticed that she had Classic FM on in the background, and it made me think that if I were a dentist, I’d be so tempted to drill in time with the music.
Dun dun dun dun dunn, drilldrill, drilldrill and so on.

Some guy outside my window, just a moment ago.
Twice. (EDIT: Four times now)
It sounded like a Wookie giving birth.
Sometimes, technology amazes me. I know it’s not exactly a new technology, but the ability to push a couple of buttons on a telephone keypad, and then be speaking to someone in as far away a location as Nigeria as if they were stood next to you is simply incredible.
I spend a lot of my time each day on the phone to various people across Europe, and instant messaging them too, and it’s not that often that I get one of these “woah!” moments when I realise just how connected we are nowadays, and how small a world it is. Today was one of those, however brief.

Randomly, there was a cricket match in Waterloo station this afternoon, in the old Eurostar terminal entrance.
It was part of a new scheme launched by the Lord Mayor (I didn’t see him there) to get more inner-city kids involved in sport. There was an England woman cricketer there (Caroline Atkins, I think), but I didn’t see any guys that I recognised.
I’d half heard of this before, but didn’t know all that much about it. Believe it or not, we don’t really get taught a lot about the Gold Rush in British schools, although anything you want to know about the history of our kings and queens, I’m your man. The mind boggles as to what these people experienced, it really does. You just can’t picture it, can you? This Wikipedia article is really well written, and it’s got that nicely detached voice which juxtaposes the quotes in the text, describing the horrors.
For the first time in forever, it was still daylight when I got home. I forget that daylight savings time kicks in so swiftly every year.
Now I’ve got no excuse not to throw on the trainers each night and go for a run. Well, save for today, because it is/has been raining all day, obviously.

Best photo I’ve seen on the internet this week. Have a good weekend people!

Is it a sign of getting older that I carry a book of stamps in my wallet?
I also carry:
2 loyalty cards for Nando’s
1 loyalty card for Daddy Donkey
2 credit cards
1 debit card
1 corporate credit card
1 driving licence
1 National Insurance card
1 European health insurance card
1 Arsenal season ticket
1 Arsenal membership card
Annoyingly, my wallet (or my ass, I’m not sure which) is a slightly odd shape, so the flimsier cards are cracking and splitting all the time. Or maybe through over-use, which is more likely.
