I’ve noticed a big upswing in followers the last 48 hours. Did I get on the Radar or something?
EDIT: Thanks to kapi for recommending me to Personalities in the directory. I guess there’s no category for “Gets annoyed easily at the media, and tends to write reams and reams without pausing for breath nor editing”. Yet.
Man, when I get into a subject, I can just write and write…
Oh, Tumblr radar, you really do know how to make me click…
I think about, read about, talk about, and watch football far too much, and I feel that I could write about it endlessly too. I’m pretty damn opinionated about a lot of what happens in and around football, and am also one of those people that can laugh at how serious football takes itself.
I don’t want to turn my normal blog into a football-heavy one, because it is still only a small part of me, and of what interests me, so I’m starting a new blog on the side for all of my football-related thoughts and ramblings. Aptly enough, I’m calling it “Rob, Rambling about Football”.
If you like football, or even if you don’t, yet want understand the obsession, check it out.
EDIT: There’s a nice correlation between this being the 3000th post on the blog, and starting a new blog on the side.
kapi asked: When are we having the next meetup?
Indeed, when is the next London Tumblr Meet-Up going to be, people? I’m free and easy as to time and place, although central is probably the best bet, I figure?
Maybe a Friday evening, so that no-one has to worry about sore heads the next morning? Other than the first weekend of February (in Venice with the girlfriend), I’m usually around.
London Tumblrs, drop me a line if you want to come along; they’re really good fun, and it’s a good way to meet your fellow Tumblrs.
Ask me anything
Bandwagon: jumped on.
(I fell off the other wagon, many many times.)
(Funny that wagons are the designated mode of transport for both sobriety and following the crowd.)
Dammit, I missed my two-year Tumblr anniversary, on 2nd November.
It’s crazy to think I’ve been writing my inane nonsense here for 733 days now, and that people actually read it. It’s especially gratifying when people read my words and then get inspired to write their own words as a result.
I love the Tumblr community, the sense of worth I feel with every Like or Reblog and new Follower. I don’t write in order to get these, but it’s always nice when they happen.
I’m also delighted to have met so many great people purely through the medium of Tumblr. There are too many to list here, but both at home and abroad you’ve all been fantastic.
And this is merely the tip of the iceberg. There are loads of people I’d love to meet in the future, but for the meantime I’ll just have to cope with the daily insight into your lives and personalities that is my Dashboard.
Thanks everyone, here’s to the next 733 days and beyond.
Man, I could sit here for hours and write about the BNP and its appearance on Question Time tonight, but it’s already 1am, and I’ve probably churned out over 2,000 words on the topic. When I get angry, the words flow
Much appreciated if you bothered to read my ramblings, especially if you disagreed. I’ve tried to put across a coherent train of thought, and I think there aren’t too many internal inconsistencies.
Oh, and for the Yanks, just remember what the dashboard looked like for non-Americans this time last year…

See you all there tonight!

Is there a way to Like a post in a manner that says “Hey, that’s a really cool idea”, rather than “I’m really seedy”?
Because damn you Jackie, damn you.
